Experience, Expertise, Care and Concern for Every Client

Where Did I Grow Up:

Troy, Missouri. I have lived in St. Charles County since December of 1974.

Family:

My first marriage produced two wonderful daughters. My oldest daughter is a lawyer, married and has two girls of her own. My younger daughter is a registered nurse and lives here in St. Charles County. My two granddaughters, ages 6 and 4, are a delight to me. And now, I am happily re- married to my wife Sandy and have the privilege to help raise her teenage son!

Hobbies/Interests:

I love to play golf, when time permits. Give me a good book, whether it is a history, a biography, mystery novel, it doesn’t matter. I love to read. And, Bible Study has become very important to me. And, being able to travel never grows old.

Education/Career Path:

I knew I wanted to be a lawyer since I was in the third grade. Tory, Missouri is my hometown and after high school graduation, going to college [Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois] was just the next step that had to be taken to get to law school. I went to the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law.

When I returned to St. Charles after my discharge from the Army in December of 1974, I no longer had the job I had been offered because the attorney that offered me the job, David Dalton, was asked to fill the vacancy in the Democratic ticket for Probate Judge and he got elected. So, I had to decide to take a job as an assistant prosecutor or open my own practice.

After talking with several attorneys in the area, and a couple from my hometown area, I decided to start my own practice and it has gone well ever since.

Unique About What We Do:

We are the only law firm in St. Charles County, and perhaps the greater metropolitan area, that has a veteran as a partner, coupled with the unique know-how to coordinate asset protection planning with obtaining both Medicaid benefits and VA Aid & Attendance benefits.

We have handled over 3,000 successful applications for Medicaid since 2001 and over 1,500 successful applications for the VA Aid & Attendance benefit since 2011

What Else to Know About Me/Family:

I hold the belief that no one in business deserves to be successful in their market area unless they actively give back to their community, and I am very grateful to have been a part of many charitable, religious, and community service organizations over the last 44 years. I am blessed to have a spouse that holds to the same belief. Sandy has been very active in civic organizations and governmental affairs over the last 26 years, and we look forward to continuing our community involvement in the years to come.
